We are planning to put together a course teaching what you need to know to design a new distribution overhead power line. Most people learn at present through on the job training, which is obviously needed (learning from more experience personnel). The problem is we are all busy and often senior staff have many responsibilities limiting their time to teach the next generation of designers. The course would compliment on the job training. It would cover all the aspects of mechanical design (not the electrical aspects of line design) from the point where a project is assigned (ie the route and general specifications have already been determined).
We are still working on this course but would appreciate hearing any thoughts you have about what you'd want to know and what learning environment and style would suit you. Please write any comments to training@polesnwires.com
