Entering a new conductor into the database – properties
When entering a new conductor into the database some required properties may be hard to locate, particularly Modulus of elasticity and Coefficient of Linear expansion. These two values are properties of the material the conductor is made from combined with the configuration of the conductor (ie number of strands).
The cable manufacturer may make this information available. It is available in documents such as Australian Standards. This example is from AS3607 (ASCR conductors):
